Atreum HYDRA-1000 Sphere Testing - 2.7 µmol/J
We are excited to publish our HYDRA-1000 LED Grow Light sphere test report which measured a third-party verified PPF Efficacy of 2.7 µmol/J and PPF of 297 µmol/s (400-700nm).
These are all system-level efficacy measurements, meaning it is measuring between electricity flowing from the wall outlet to the number of photons of light generated by the HYDRA-1000 fixture. Some of these efficacy figures are inflated by quoting the efficacy of just the LED (i.e. doesn't take into account driver losses, etc.) but that is not the case here. Anyways, on with the results.
The Results
Total PPF (400 - 700nm) | 297 µmol/s |
PPF Efficacy | 2.68 µmol/J |
Photon Flux (350 - 1000nm) | 311 µmol/s |
Photon Efficacy | 2.81 µmol/J |
You can see the test report in the link here: HYDRA-1000 Test Report.
As far as we are aware, this is the best independently-verified PPF Efficacy of its class.
So What?
Plants use photons, not Watts. And not just any photons; plants primarily use photons in the Photosynthetically Active Radiation (PAR) range, which is from 400nm - 700nm wavelengths. The better your light fixture can convert watts from the wall to useable PAR photons, the more light is available for your plants and the lower your electric bill will be!
This is exactly what PPF Efficacy tells you - the higher the value, the more efficient the light fixture is.
Who Performed the Test?
One thing we want to highlight is the testing laboratory we work with (CSA Group) is one of the organizations that writes North American luminaire testing standards. That is about as close to the source of truth as we can get.
In Summary...
By using high-quality components and doing in-depth engineering, the HYDRA-1000 is an innovative, high-performance grow light for the home grower.
